Zetor Maxterra

Zetor long-awaited Maxterra tractor appeared in prototype form at Agritechnica.  A 165hp example, from near the top of the new range that will offer models from 135-175hp, was exhibited. The tractors will feature a new six-cyclinder engine built by Zetor at its Brno factory, in the Czech Republic. Under development for some time, it has been suggested that work to ensure the new power unit can meet Tier 3B and subsequent emissions standards has delayed the project. The transmission offered with the Maxterra is expected to be a 24-speed box with six mechanical ratios and four powershifts. Zetor says it will not launch the tractors until it’s is absolutely sure they are ready, but when they do appear they will be the first six-cylinder tractors from the brand for about 30 years.
