John Deere 7R

Lynx Engineering has assembled and delivered the first John Deere 7R Series tractor to be fitted with a rubber tracks system. The sole UK distributor for Zuidberg Westtrack, Lynx Engineering fitted the tracks to the John Deere 7280R tractor for a major growers' co-operative which grows more than 4,700 hectares of salad and vegetable crops in the UK plus over 1,900 hectares in Spain and is one of Europe's largest producers of lettuce. The company also grows wheat and some 800 hectares of maize.

 The reduced ground pressure exerted by the Zuidberg Westtrack system over surfaces with a lower-load bearing capacity is of major benefit not only to salad and vegetable producers, but also to cereals growers. Zuidberg triangular rubber tracks apply up to 75% less ground pressure than machines using standard pneumatic tyres. This means that the soil structure remains fully intact with little or no compaction to inhibit plant growth. In many cases, the tracks enable farmers to get onto their fields earlier in the year and to work them for longer, thus extending the working season. John Deere 7930

The tracks spread the vehicle’s weight over a larger surface area, enabling the tractor to exert a lower force per unit area on the ground. This allows the tractor to safely traverse over moister ground like rich soil, snow, or mud. A variety of attachments can be added to the crawler tractor thereby maximizing its usability.

Case IH Soucy Track

Magnum tractor equipped with a massive set of tracks was on display in the Case IH exhibit. The special tracks, built by Soucy of The Canada, are designed for heavy-duty frame tractors of 200 to 400 hp. Case IH personnel said the new tracks boast a larger footprint of 13.75 ft. According to Soucy Track, the positive track system is quieter and handles higher speeds better than negative track systems. The company says the tracks are maintenance free and are easily replaced by wheels.

Kubota M9960

The 105,9 HP engine of the M9960 features Kubota’s Tier IIIB compliant technology. The 4 cylinder, 16-valve, turbocharged powerplant with intercooler is equipped with a catalytic converter and DPF, so no urea-based additives are required to meet the stringent environmental norms.

The M9960 is fitted with a mechanical 6-speed gearbox and a reduction box that offers 3 speeds as standard. In each of the 6 main speeds, the operator can select 1 additional power shift without engaging the clutch. In total, the operator can choose from 36 speeds in each direction. In this model, the manufacturer has installed an overdrive gear, so the maximum speed of the tractor (39,9 km/h) is already achieved at 2100 rpm.
